Bishop Sarah Macneil – President

PhD Theology, BA (Hons).

Bishop Sarah has been Bishop of Grafton Diocese since March 2014. She has been actively involved in not-for-profit boards for over a decade. Her PhD research was in the area of governance and identity in the Anglican Church. She is the Chair of the Corporate Trustees of the Diocese and of the Bishop-in-Council.

Fr.  Matthew Smedley – Chair

B.Economics (Hons), M.Divinity, Dip Ministry, Company Director’s Course- Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Fr Matthew is the Rector of the Anglican Parish of Bangalow and was appointed to the Board in October 2014 and as Chair in June 2015. Fr Matthew has held several positions within both the Diocese of Grafton and the Diocese of Bathurst. He currently serves as a member of Bishop in Council. Prior to Ordination as a Priest, Fr Matthew gained qualifications and work experience in banking and finance.

 Mr. Blaine Fitzgerald

Associate Dip. in Accounting, Dip. in Business (Governance).

Blaine is the Manager of Anglican Funds Grafton Diocese and was appointed to the Board in October 2014. Blaine has extensive experience in the banking and finance industry, deal structuring, risk and compliance and business development.

Mr. Alex Purvis

BA (Economic History), Grad Dip. (Natural Resources).

Alex has been a member of the Board since November 2009. Now retired from a senior role with the NSW Government, Alex maintains a strong interest in social justice issues, particularly for people with a disability. Alex is actively involved in the Anglican Parish of Grafton.

Rev. Jenny Parker

Dip. in Anglican Orders.

Jenny was appointed to the Board in March 2015. She has extensive experience in the management of residential aged care and is also an ordained Deacon. As Deacon, Jenny is involved in assisting many people who are marginalized in the community as well as undertaking pastoral care and other activities. Jenny is very involved in the Anglican Parish of South Grafton.

Ms. Deb Duncan

Certificate IV Training and Assessment, Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, Train The Trainer, Masters and Trades Certificates in Hairdressing, Company Director’s Course- Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Deb has been a member of the Board since May 2015. Prior to her appointment, Deb served as a member of the Board of Anglicare Tasmania for 4 years. Deb has extensive experience in assisting disadvantaged members of the community, particularly youth, through both her teaching experience and her involvement with various Anglican parishes. Deb is currently a member of the Anglican Parish of Nambucca Heads.

Mr. Amkela Malaba

 B.Commerce, Adv.Dip. Financial Services, Grad. Dip. Education  (Secondary), M. Information Systems.

Amkela has been a member of the Board since January 2016. He has extensive experience and qualifications in both leadership and financial management and planning. Amkela recently   completed secondary teacher training and is now fully qualified. Amkela is an active member of the Anglican Parish of Ballina.

   

Dr. Gregory Smith

Doctor of Philosophy, B. Social Science, Sociology and Community Development (Honours 1st Class).

Gregory was appointed to the Board of Anglicare North Coast in October 2016, bringing with him both a wealth of experience in advocating on a range of social justice issues and considerable formal academic qualifications. The research topic for Gregory’s PhD was: “Nobody’s Children: An exploration into a sense of belonging of adults who experienced institutional out of home care as children”). Gregory currently works as a lecturer at Southern Cross University in the School of Arts and Social Sciences. He is very passionate about assisting disadvantaged people from all walks of life.
